Digestive System: Alimentary Canal: Colon
The colon appears to have just had a haircut. This uniformity is fairly specific to this region. Note the absence of glands and Peyer's'patches as well as the abundance of goblet cells. The colon may have two laers fo musculairs externa or one, depending upon whether the teniae coli have been included in the specimen. The serosa may or may not be absent. This because the central regions of the ascending and descending colon are retroperitoneal.
