Digestive System Histology: Gall Bladder
The gall bladder contains the same layers as the lower alimentary canal. The mucosa conists of simple columnar epithelium and lamina propria, the submucosa consist mainly of areolar connective tissues and contains the major arteries, veins and nerves, the muscularis externa consist of 2 layers of smooth muscle, an inner circular layer and an outer longitudinal layer, and finally a serosa is a serous membrane (visceral peritoneum) that is made of simple squamous epithelium and a thin areolar connective tissue base.
