Endocrine System: Adrenal Glands
The adrenal cortex consists of three distinct regions. the zona granulosa produces mineral corticoids such as aldosterone, the zona fasciculata produces glucocorticoids and the zona reticularis produces weak sex steroids. Central to the cortex is the adrenal medulla, which is akin to a collateral sympathetic ganglion.
